KKR has done exceptionally well in almost every single IPL, yet this team still considered as an underdog every time a new IPL season starts off. They have been victorious twice and finished at the 3rd spot last year in IPL 2018. King Khan’s Knights are one of the most consistent and balanced sides in IPL.
They have too many match-winners who are capable of turning things on any given day. An experienced campaigner in the form of Dinesh Kartick brings mixed aggression in the squad. They have the raw Caribbean power in the form of Andre Russel and Sunil Narine. Altogether they have formed a squad of young talents along with experience quite well.
A new season brings new opportunities for everyone. The stage is set once again for the Knight Riders. KKR will be up against SRH on 24th March in the first match of the doubleheader Saturday. Andre Russel and other foreign players have already joined the team and ready to unleash their prowess.
Once again the team will rely heavily on the wicketkeeper-batsman Robin Uthappa. But they need to sort out their batting order quite soon. You just can’t play a class player at no. 7. Young Shubnam Gill needs to bat in top 3. Sunil Narine is quite hit or miss player, so he should be utilized wisely, considering the opposition bowling attack. When you’re already 1 down in very first over, run-rate definitely fails to climb up.
Remember last year Nitish Rana got both of the best batsmen in the world out in consecutive deliveries. Rana is a tremendous all-rounder who needs to show consistency. He usually starts the tournament on high notes and as the tournament goes deeper, he loses his form.
This time they are equipped with some serious pace batteries. New South African recruit Anrich Nortje, Indian sensation Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and the Kiwi, Lockie Ferguson can constantly clock 150 kph. Harry Gurney can be the game changer in death overs. Then, they have Prasidh Krishna and Shivam Mavi and Carlos Braithwaite to assist the pacers.
With so many options to choose from, Skipper DK might get a severe headache during the season. All they need to do is rotate them wisely and bring out the most from them. However, Nagarkoti, being an Indian pacer must find a fixed spot.
Not only pacers but they have world-class spinners too. The trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine, and Piyush Chawla has the wicket-taking ability while bowling economically. Only time will tell if too many superstars in a squad is a boon or bane, but every cricket enthusiast expects a lot from this successful side. Here we have made a playing XI for KKR based on Indian Conditions
Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Shubnam Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russe, Sunil Narine, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, and Piyush Chawla.
